My short stay at Washington DC

In the cherry blossom's shade there's no such thing as a stranger.

My journey across the seven seas started not too long. I met the man of my dreams who swept me across the oceans to the US of A...and here I am :-). The city I visited frequently during the first few months turned out to be my favorite place in the US...Washington D.C!

My husband and I lived about twenty miles away from DC, in the city of Fairfax. Fairfax was a lovely place to live. It had a city feel to it without the regular hustle and bustle. Very centrally located we had easy access to shopping malls, grocery stores and parks. The metro system was excellent, and we could reach DC in about 20 - 30 mins.

Washington DC. Sigh! What a gorgeous city! This place is a mix of museums, art galleries, monuments, parks and theaters. The buildings have a lovely architectural appeal. Other than the famous Cherry Blossom festival (which I haven't visited yet) there are parades and festivals happening year around. Not too far from downtown is Georgetown. This busy area offers a whole array of shops and restaurants with people visiting from all over the world. A short walk from here would lead to the Potomac river with beautiful views, cruises, bike trails and garden.

Sigh again! I guess I can go on & on about DC. Given a choice this is the place I would go back to :-).
